The goal of Catholic Charities’ high school equivalency preparation program is to help our students earn a New Mexico high school equivalency certificate in Spanish or in English. We also assist students in transferring to a college or university and in seeking more advanced employment opportunities. In New Mexico, students are able to choose either the HiSET test or the GED test to earn their HSE certificate, though the HiSET is recommended by our staff. Classes cover academic knowledge and skills in the areas of reading, writing, social studies, science, and math, which prepare students to pass the HSE tests. HSE classes will also integrate the use of digital technologies, as well as activities intended to empower students as they select, plan, and pursue a career pathway.
