Citizenship​

At Catholic Charities, we offer citizenship exam preparation classes to help our students pass the U.S. Citizenship test. Preparation includes English language skill development and civics content knowledge. We offer classes at different levels to help all students be successful.  For more information about our citizenship class levels, please click the descriptions below.

Course Descriptions

Citizenship - Level 1
This course is designed to help prepare adult immigrants at the low to high beginning ESL level to learn about the naturalization process. This preparation includes developing English language skills and civics content knowledge, and learning about the Form N-400 and the naturalization interview.  Students will engage  in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  Students will also become familiar with American culture. 
Citizenship - Level 1
Prerequisites: All Catholic Charities students enrolling in Intermediate Citizenship must take a CASAS appraisal exam and score 200 or higher on a CASAS locator or post-test.

This course continues and reinforces content and skills from our Beginning Citizenship level. This course prepares adult immigrants at the low intermediate to advanced ESL level to complete the naturalization process in order to become U.S. Citizens. This preparation includes developing English language skills and civics content knowledge, and learning about the Form N-400 and the naturalization interview with an emphasis on conversation.  Students will engage in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  Students will also become familiar with American culture.
