Welcome to Hibernian House

Hibernian House
Welcome to Hibernian House Senior Housing, a HUD apartment complex that offers subsidized rental units for low-income seniors in downtown Albuquerque.
Our community is designed to provide affordable and comfortable housing options for our residents.
As a HUD apartment, residents usually pay 30% of their gross income for rent. The rent amount, less approved HUD deductions such as medical and child care expenses, and other allowances, includes a utility allowance. Additionally, HUD residents may choose to pay what is known as flat rent. Our team works closely with applicants to determine which rent arrangement is best suited to their individual needs.
Our complex features 20 one-bedroom units, each 540 square feet in size, with enclosed courtyards that offer privacy and tranquility for our residents. We are conveniently located near city bus routes and medical facilities, providing easy access to essential services. We also offer private parking, a gated entry, community room, laundry facilities, and a neighborhood network center to enhance the quality of life of our residents.
At Hibernian House Senior Housing, we are committed to providing a comfortable and secure home for low-income seniors. Our team works tirelessly to create a welcoming and supportive environment where residents can thrive. We invite you to contact us today to learn more about our community and how we can help you achieve your housing goals.

Miracle on Coal Avenue: Gifts for Seniors at Catholic Charities’ Hibernian House
A couple months ago at Catholic Charities’ Hibernian House, a housing facility located in downtown Albuquerque that serves 19 seniors, a Christmas Miracle came in the form of a generous local family.

Every year we celebrate the holidays with these 19 seniors with a gathering and gifts from a corporate sponsor. As we were approaching the last holiday party without a corporate sponsor, a woman named Karla called to inquire about her company sponsoring gifts for the seniors.
Unfortunately, a miscommunication led to a delay in returning her call and her agency made a commitment to another organization. We had secured calendars and lap blankets from our in-kind donation center, but it looked like we wouldn’t have much more to give to the seniors.

Then miraculously, Karla called back to say that she wanted to teach her young son Ethan the meaning of Christmas so she and her mother Donna would purchase gifts. Karla, Donna, Ethan, and his baby brother arrived to the party with gifts for all 19 seniors which Ethan proudly handed out. The seniors were also thrilled by the family’s personal touch and enjoyed playing with Ethan and his baby brother.
The mission of Catholic Charities is to put faith in action to improve the lives of those in need. We provide services to promote self-sufficiency, strengthen families, fight poverty, and build community. As the local 501(c)(3) affiliate of Catholic Charities USA, we remain dedicated to finding solutions to some of the most pressing social challenges individuals, children and families face regardless of race, religion, color, country of origin, disabilities, gender, age, or sexual orientation.
