Assistance for Unaccompanied Minors

Catholic Charities is not currently providing assistance for unaccompanied minors at the border; we continue to provide our standard services through our Center for Immigration and Citizenship Legal Assistance.  If you would like to support aid for these individuals, please consider donating to one of the organizations listed below.

Rio Grande Borderland Ministries

RGBM is working to build shelters on the south side of the Texas/Mexico border that spans from Juarez to the eastern most edge of Big Bend National Park. These shelters offer a safe place for individuals and families to live while they engage the U.S. asylum process, as well as serve the indigenous Mexican people.

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)

KIND is a U.S.-based nongovernmental organization devoted to protection of unaccompanied and separated children. KIND envisions a world in which every unaccompanied child on the move has access to legal counsel and has their rights and well-being protected as they migrate alone in search of safety. Since its inception, KIND has received referrals for more than 21,000 cases and now serves over 5,000 children annually in partnership with nearly 700 pro bono partners.

Books for Kids

Reforma is an affiliate of the American Library Association that works to make sure libraries are serving Latinx communities. Since 2014, they have been collecting books to donate to children arriving at the border. They’re currently asking for additional support to get books into the hands of kids in shelters and at other points along the migration journey.
